To finding someone you love without reserve.

  Prologue

It's been ten years since the girl of my dreams walked away from me without so much as a glance behind her. Part of me doesn't blame her for leaving, but the other part of me hates her for it. We were supposed to grow old together and have the perfect family. All that changed the night I told her I wasn't going to move to New York with her. Little did she know things would get worse for me after she left.

Not only did I lose the love of my life, I lost my father not long afterwards.

When I needed her the most, she wasn't there. Hell, I thought it would change the way I felt about her, but I only missed her more. As days went by, the only thing I could think about was her beautiful face and the way she felt as her body was pressed against mine. We took on the world together or so I thought. I wanted her by my side through everything, but all I had left were the memories of what was and what could have been.

She was the air I breathed, the sunshine in my life. She brought me out of a dark time, she helped me see just how precious life is. She made me believe in the happily ever after that all women dreamed about as little girls. She is the better half of me in more ways than one.

I put my head down and learned everything I needed to in order to take care of the ranch. I knew my pop was sick, although I hated knowing that it was the main reason I lost out on being part of her life, I accepted it. My pop needed me more than she did. He needed someone to carry on the family name and ranch after his time came to an end.

Hell, I even made a trip to New York to see her. As soon as I saw her, I knew I was out of the race for her heart. She had moved on. She looked happy and ready to take on the world, only she was on the arm of the wrong guy. He wasn’t me. I spent nights trying to rid her from my brain after that day. I tossed everything I still had of hers in a box and threw it out. I couldn’t deal with the thought of losing her forever, so I just shut down.

Over the next few years, I drowned myself in alcohol and every girl who wanted a piece of me. I know it wasn't the right thing to do, but it was the only way I was able to keep thoughts of her off my mind.

I dated a few women here and there, but I always ended up comparing them to Lyndley. I knew that deep down inside she was the only woman for me. Pretty soon I stopped trying to move on. Sure I still slept with women, but there was never anything more between us than just sex.

No one would ever own my heart like she did. Now if only she would come home so I could prove this to her.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that Lyndley Adams would come back home. Since the day she left, I have been spending time with her parents. They were like a second family to me, I hated the thought of not being close with them still.

Even after I broke their daughter’s heart, they still welcomed me into their home with open arms every time. Part of me liked being there because I knew I would feel like she was still here instead of in fancy New York City. I never really understood why she wanted to go there, but I would have done anything for that girl.

She was my life and in one night I ruined it.

The day my pop asked me to take over the farm when I graduated was supposed to be the best day of my life, but it quickly turned into the worst. All my life this is what I wanted. I loved the ranch, I thought that Lyndley did too. I guess I was wrong about that. Sure I knew she had her heart set on New York, but I thought, no I hoped she would have chosen us instead.

The shock of seeing her again after all this time isn't just going to fade. My heartbeat picked up just with one look, my dick rose just at the sound of her voice. Every inch of my body came alive when my hand touched her, I was thrown back into every memory that I gave a damn about.

Getting into my black lifted Chevy, I take one last look at the Adams house before throwing it in reverse. Before I pull away, I see her in the window. Damn, she sure looks more beautiful than ever. I always knew she would be. I’m just surprised she isn’t married with a bunch of kids by now. It was always the plan.

Her dark brown hair is longer than before. Her fancy clothes aren’t something that I am interested in, but her body, my God. Her tits looked bigger than before and her long legs were fucking killing me.

I wanted nothing more than to bend her over and fuck her until she screamed out my name. Judging by the look on her face, I know I need to take my time with her. She’s still hurt and I pray to God that I will be able to fix what I broke. I'll die trying, that's for sure.

Spending the whole drive home thinking about her has made me fucking horny as hell, I want nothing more than to sink into a woman. If I want to win her heart again, I’ll have to be on my best behavior. Most girls around here aren’t worth the effort, but I know Lyndley is.

Pulling up to my house, I put the truck in park and think about an old memory.

Talking with my buddies after football practice, I see Lyndley walking towards me. We are juniors in high school and have been dating since our sophomore year. I knew the day I met her that we would grow old together. Everyone told me how crazy I was for thinking that, but I knew it was true. She would be my wife one day. No one would be able to come between us.

When we finally reached each other, s
he threw her arms around my neck and kissed me like the world was ending. What I wouldn’t do for her. When we broke apart, she got a big grin on her face.

“What darlin’?” I ask. She’s always up to something, this much I know. If anyone was going to get us into trouble, it would be her. She has a wild streak a mile long, but I wouldn't change it for anything. It's one of the things I love about her.

Her smile widens as she runs a finger down my chest. “Well, I was thinking that we should make it official.” she beams. I look at her in confusion for a second.

“You want to get married?” I ask. Hell I’m game. Why not make it official now instead of having to wait until we are eighteen. She nods her head yes and I spin us around in circles. “Hell yeah baby! You know I’m all for making you mine for the rest of my life.” I kiss her breathless and she wraps her legs around my waist.

When we finally break apart, we make plans to do it while we are on spring break. Once all the planning is done, I take her to the pond on my family farm. Before I even put my old truck in park, Lynnie is jumping out and stripping down. Our first time was out here, I will always hold this place in my heart.

Jumping out of the truck, I watch her for a few minutes as she shimmies those cut-off jeans from her hips. I have to bite my cheek to keep from groaning. Her body is amazing. All the guys are jealous because none of the other girls look like her. She’s got a flat stomach and her hips have just the right curve to them. I watch her shirt float to the ground, I can’t help but make my way over to her, stripping my shirt, my boots and my jeans as I go.

When I finally get to the edge of the pond, I see her Barely There panties and bra sitting at the edge of the water. Not wasting any more time, I strip my boxer briefs off and dive into the cool water.

Lynnie is floating in the water watching me as I make my way towards her. When I wrap my arm around her and pull her to me, she breaks out into a fit of giggles. The way her naked body feels against mine should be a sin, but I can’t help but crave it.

She wraps her legs around me, my cock instantly springs to attention. With one arm around me, she uses her other one to stroke me. Kissing down her neck, I moan at the attention she’s showing my dick. All I want to do is sink inside of her. Before I can even say anything, she does just that.

“Shit Lynnie,” I groan out. She feels amazing, I could get lost in this feeling forever. Slowly I lift her up and down my shaft. Sucking one of her nipples into my mouth, I can’t help but hum in appreciation. Her moans tell me I’m hitting all the right places, I do everything I can to keep from coming too soon. I always make sure that she comes first.

Her fingernails dig into my back as she ups our tempo. As she yells out my name, I come inside of her.

A knock on my window brings me back to the present. Shit. Now I’m hard as a fucking rock from thinking about that day. Looking up I see my best friend staring at me. As soon as I open the door, he starts. “Holy shit man! What the fuck were you just thinking about?” he asks with a smirk.

I push him out of the way and get out of the truck. Adjusting myself the best as I can, I hear his laughter coming from behind me. “Must have been one hell of a day dream, asshole.” He smiles and raises his eyebrows.

“Fuck you Tate,” I throw back at him. I walk to the front door of my house and he’s right behind me.

“So we going out tonight? I heard Kelsey has a few friends over from out of town.” He grins while wiggling his eyebrows.

“No man, I don’t think so. I’m beat and I am probably gonna turn in early.”

He looks at me like I’ve grown another head. “Are you fucking kidding me?” he groans. “Kelsey is bringing hot friends out tonight and they want to get laid. We want to get laid. What the fuck is the matter with you?”

“Tate, not tonight. Maybe another night.” I say plopping down on my couch. There’s no way I’m gonna be able to fuck another woman without picturing Lyndley now that she's back in town. Fuck I'm screwed, and not in the way I want to be.

“You’re a fucking pussy.” He states as he makes his way to the door. “Don’t worry I’ll send you some pictures.” I flip him off and watch him walk out the door laughing. As much as I need to get laid, I can’t do it while Lynnie is around.

At a half past ten I get my first text message from Tate.

Tate: You didn’t fucking tell me Lynnie was home. What the fuck man?

Me: I only found out when I was at her folks place. I ran into her there.

Tate: Hot damn! Who knew she would be such a looker.

His message pisses me off. As much as I want to punch the bastard, I just write him back. In high school, Tate had a thing for Lynnie, but it never amounted to anything because she was with me.

Me: If you want to fucking live, stay the fuck away from her.

Tate: Damn bud, you still hooked on her?

Me: Shut up tate. Just make sure no one touches her.

Tate: Too late man. Looks like Keegan is laying his mac down pretty hard.

Fuck. As much as I’d rather not go out, I need to make sure she gets home safe. Every ounce of me wants to make sure that she’s safe and loved. God, I sound like a pussy. I pull on some jeans and my boots. Shit, I don’t remember the last time I went chasing after a girl.

After finding a shirt to wear, I throw it on and make my way to my truck. Driving the ten miles it takes to get to the only bar in town, I slam the truck into park and jump out of the cab like a man on a mission. Walking inside the bar, I get stopped at least a dozen times to talk shop or just to bullshit. When I finally find Tate, I ask him where Lyndley is. He points over to the corner of the bar where I see the back of Keegan’s head.

Making my way over there, I see that Lyndley is drunk. Shit. I need to get her out of here and fast. I walk up to her and pull her to me. At first she tries to pull away, I tell her to knock it off by whispering in her ear. When she stops fighting me, Keegan decides on running his mouth.

“Who the fuck do you think you are, Jax? I was talking to this sexy woman and we were just about to leave.” He smirks, I want to punch him in the mouth so fucking bad. He's fucking with the wrong woman.

“Stay the fuck away from her,” I grate out. Like hell I’m going to let her go anywhere with this douche. I hear her gasp and she grips onto my shirt.

“What are you, her fucking father?” He spits back at me.

As bad as I want to say something, I hold my tongue. I don’t want to add fuel to the fire. Instead I whisper in her ear. “Lynnie, I’m gonna take you home okay?” She nods her head and I focus only on her. Her hair is slightly curled and her makeup is starting to smear. Resting her head on my chest, I wish things were different between us.

"Fuck you Keegan. Stay the hell away from her. You so much as touch her and I'll fucking kill you." With one arm around her back and the other supporting her legs, I pick her up. She wraps her arms around my neck and buries her face in it like she used to. Looking up, I see Keegan coming at me. Before he can reach me, Tate blocks him.

"You need Tate to fight your battles for you now?" he sneers.

"No just more important things to do than deal with your bitch ass." Without saying anything else, I make my way out of the bar and to my truck. I can feel Lyndley's hot breath through my shirt, I'm having trouble thinking. My brain and my dick are at war with each other, I'm having trouble listening to the right head.

I hear boots on the gravel coming up behind me. Before I can turn around, Tate makes his presence known. "You're still in love with her aren't you?" Opening the door, I set her inside the truck before closing it and turning to face my best friend.

"It's not something I can just turn off. I've loved her most of my life and to see her again after all this time, is like a fucking punch to the gut." I shake my head before I say anything else to make myself look like a fool.

"But man, you're not the same man you were when you ended things. Just get her to realize that you still belong together." I can't h
elp but laugh at his statement. Never in my life have I heard Tate say anything remotely like that in his life. He is typically the one who says, "Fuck her. She isn't worth the damn effort."

"Fuck you asshole. I know your guys secret. Don't make me tell the whole town."

I can feel my face pale. How the fuck does he know? I sure as hell didn't tell him or anyone else. "How do you know?" I ask. The words sound foreign to me, almost like someone else is talking.

"Jax, I know you better than anyone. We've been best friends since diapers and when you both came back from spring break you were both giddy as hell. My question is, how the hell did you guys get it done? Neither of you were eighteen." I can't help but smile at the memory. "Lynnie convinced them that we were and we had just lost our ID's. I couldn't believe that they let us do it either."

"Shit, the girl could convince anyone of anything. I guess that doesn't surprise me," he says with a grin.

He slaps me on the back and says good night. I watch him walk back into the bar and I make my way to the driver's side of my truck. Getting in, I look over at her and her beautiful hazel eyes are staring at me.

"Jaxson." she starts. I can't help but just stare at her. Even looking like a hot mess, she's still the most beautiful woman I've ever seen.

"Thank you for keeping me from doing something stupid." Her voice is quiet and hesitant.

"Lynnie I'll always protect you. You want me to take you to your parent's house?" I ask gently.

She nods her head and I start the truck. The ride to her parent's house is quiet, I'm not sure if she's actually asleep or just pretending. Looking over at her, I can't help but think of how things ended. When I pull up to her parent's house her eyes remain closed. Getting out, I make my way to her side, open the door and pick her up. Walking up to the door, I feel her move closer to my neck. When her lips graze me I feel a shock of electricity, the same electricity I've felt every time our bodies touch.

Grabbing her keys out of her purse, I unlock the door and make my way inside. Walking down the hall to her room, I remember the last time I went in there. Shaking all thoughts of her out of my head, I walk into her room. Setting her on her bed, I pull off her shoes and set them next to the bed pulling the blanket over her still clothed body, I move the hair off of her face and kiss her forehead. "Night Lyndley." I whisper into the dark room.
